This should be an exciting and different weekend for STRIDE members. See the STRIDE omnibus for details on show entry at Grand Oaks; there are different fees than for the Horse Park.
On Saturday, drivers will have their show: Dressage and cones. Due to facility limitations, we cannot offer trail or DBTL at this show. Muffy Seaton will be judging.
On Saturday, riders working towards Year End Awards can earn their required volunteer hours. Or, riders may choose from two clinicians in the covered arena. Matt McLaughlin is an FEI level trainer and has a great history of equine exhibition, too. Karen Abbatista is an L Graduate with Distinction and is very well versed in Western Dressage. Matt’s rides are $110 per ride and Karen’s are $50 per ride. STRIDE members take priority. Riders will be asked to pre-pay for clinic rides by May 12; checks payable to STRIDE. Email Judy Downer at email@example.com if you want to schedule a lesson. Schooling in the covered arena will be available after the clinic finishes.
Everyone is invited Saturday night for dinner and lecture on natural horse behavior by Tik Maynard, a winner in the Thoroughbred Make-over Project and excellent student of equine learning behavior. Dinner information to come, but email Judy Downer right away to get on the pre-reservation list. Ridden Dressage will be held Sunday in the covered arena with two great judges: Heather Stalker “r” and Simone Vanbellingen from Belgium.
On Sunday, drivers have the opportunity to earn their volunteer hours, go back to practice their cones course or take a great pleasure drive around Grand Oaks.
I hope you will choose to stay for the weekend. Cottages and RV hookups are available; contact Grand Oaks directly to arrange.
