Driving Events

STRIDE members drive away with the awards: Last weekend on April 07-09 2006, STRIDE members drove away with the ribbons at the Georgia International Combined Driving Event X at the Georgia Horse park near Atlanta.  Charlotte Trentleman, Sammi Orem, and Jeanne Abbott were there to compete, and they were not disappointed! The CDE format includes dressage, marathon, and cones components.  Charlotte drove her homebred gelding Linksman, better known to STRIDE members as Tiger, in the Training Level Single Horse division.  As we could have predicted, the team came away with the blue ribbon! But there was more to come.

Both Jeanne Abbott, driving Eclipse, and Sammi Orem, driving PITA, were entered in the Preliminary Limited Single Pony division.  Sammi, the youngest driver on the grounds, really had fun in the marathon segment.  PITA seems to enjoy crashing into the water like a Labrador retriever.  In third place after Dressage, Sammi and Pita won the marathon phase by a wide margin, and backed that up with a win in cones... and the Blue was theirs.  This is Sammi's last competition in the Limited classes - and she assures me she is ready for the Open classes next month.Jeanne also had a strong showing in the marathon phase, finishing just behind Sammi, with a wide enough margin to finish Second over all. We are all so proud of our fellow STRIDE members!  Hard work, consistent effort, and practice at our schooling shows does lead to success!  (And yes, that IS a blatant plug to attend the show at Continental Acres April 23, 2006!) Congrats to all!
